hen you think of ways to secure your sled to the trailer, usually the thoughts go toward the more traditional bars and straps. There are the new, high-tech tie-down clamps which allow operation with one hand from the side of the trailer, the ski-clamps, the cam adjusters that replace the traditional threaded bolt and of course, the standard bars and bolts that are sold with most trailers. Now, there is an entirely new, versatile method to tie down the sled and we are impressed!
The Sure Clamp from SureTrac Systems, LLC utilizes a dual set of ratchet straps, mounted in a cast housing. The housing is secured to the trailer’s stock clamp holes. The strap’s rubber-coated hooks are hooked onto the front suspension and the large handle ratchets both straps together to pull down on the front suspension, locking the sled into place. The handle is large enough to be used with snowmobile gloves and the added leverage makes easy work out of ratcheting down the front of the sled.
The Sure Clamp’s unique design won’t loosen up over long trips like traditional bars and locks the snowmobile down by the suspension instead of the skis for less movement, even over rough roads. The rubber hooks are large enough to handle radius rods and A-arms from all brands. With the flip of a lever, the straps release its tension, allowing the removal of the hooks to unload the machine.
The Sure Clamp Quick Release model secures only a metal plate to the trailer, so the housing can be removed with a pin. This works ideal for drive-through trailers as well as allowing the Sure Clamp to be removed and used on multiple trailers. Additionally, the Sure Clamp is the only clamping system that works ideal for snowmobiles, ATVs, Motorcycles, Garden Tractors and more.
We liked the Sure Clamp for its versatility and ease of use the most. With the snow conditions lately, we’ve been trailering our sleds a lot so we’ve used several different systems. The Sure Clamp will continue to be one of our favorites and is one of the first things we install on our new trailers each year. Anyone need a large pile of stock bars?
