Lis ceci que j'ai pris du cote US.

Well fellas I was shocked that they did not come out with the big sleds as rumoured because I know from an inside source that they do indeed exist. One big 2-stroke and two 4 strokes. The big twin has been ready for awhile and the 4-strokes were nearing finished product in january. Why didn't they come out the pipe?. I posed that question to my insider and here is his answer.

The company was posed with a serious problem in four areas.

1. Far too many zr9s and t660s still in crates around North America.
2. Many F-cats still in crates in the mid west as well.
If cat comes out with a new big twin, the zr9s would be worthless. Any new hotrod fourstroke would cripple the t660 sales as well. This decision was made from a profit return and dealer longevity point of view where bringing only the crossover sled like the crossfire would only hit the ext's which was a small part of the market. Had this been a good snow year in the midwest(traditionally the biggest market) and more f-cats sold you would have seen a short track version of the Crossfire similar to the snopro in looks with the 121 inch footprint.
3. Internet information dissemination on the d-drive and lack of top end. People got the wrong idea about the d-drive being slower and many f-cat owners did not upgrade from 03's because they thought it would be slower. Not necessarily true as seen by many standard f7's hitting 113-115 with regularity. The f6's in my area are actually faster than the 04's on the lake and quicker to boot.
4. Cost differential from a switch to 121' from 128. Retooling of the entire line to run jsut 121 inch sleds would mean that they would have lost some of the profit margin created by the sale of the f-sleds. One more year would ensure a larger profit due to increasing returns on previous R+D costs and tooling the line for it.

The bottom line is that the beancounters who watch the bottom line won the day!!! I was told that there were some very unhappy campers in Cat R+D as this is what they work toward and they like the accolades they had been given in the past few years. To take a year off must have hurt big time. I was told to hang tight as good things will come down the pipe in the future. LOL!!! Heard that one before. In any case My buddy was almost appologetic when I spoke with him as it seems we are not the only ones who had the wool pulled over their eyes. Acountants, who likes em anyway!!!! Not far off of lawyers anyhow!!!! Certainly not the launch I was hoping for and likely not what many at cat who live for this stuff were hoping for either. Keep your fingers crossed and buy a good leftover f-cat, zr9 or t660. The latter two were really very good this year. I for one am now looking at maybe a crossfire or a leftover f7 standard in black or red. Prices should be very good!!! One good thing that should be mentioned is that at least the price of F-cats will hold their price much better this fall then if they had come out with something new this year. Gotta be some positive in this somewhere.HAHAHAHA!
