There are a ton of boots on the market this year. We last visited the footgear department last summer and since then, we’ve discovered a serious foot fetish in the sport. But there’s a good reason for it: without a well-supported, warm and dry foot, you’ve got nothing! Here are three more entries in the product segment.
FXR has been fairly quiet in the boot scene, despite building a very nice product. The Octane Boot has all of the high support and protective features of the standard snocross/snowboard style boot, with the added benefit of “Easy Walk Technology.” These boots have been double stitched and engineered to resist tunnel gripper abrasion on the uppers and on the soles. They’re rated down to –40 degrees and feature a replaceable waterproof inner liner. For more information, stop by www.fxrracing.com
RU Outside has been building lightweight, extremely comfortable boots for 10 years. This year the Renegade 3 debuts with a huge cold rating down to –60 degrees! The Renegade 3 is a softer, more flexible and lightweight boot than the other two models in this week’s installment. It has a form-fitting removable inner liner that breathes. The full grain leather upper is waterproof and the seams are sealed to further keep your feet dry and comfortable. For more information, stop by www.ruoutside.com.
Our friends at HMK really set the market on fire with the original Highmark boot a couple years back. This year HMK offers the Highmark Pro boot. The preponderance of the design elements on this boot are focused on durability and ankle support. The entire undercarriage has been re-engineered to resist the abuses of grippered tunnels and runningboards. The upper part of the boot offers torsional stability bars and ankle stabilizers. The inner liner features an exoskeleton for added support and protection. The Highmark Pro is cold rated down to –50 degrees. For more information, stop by www.hmksnowmobiling.com
So there are three more new boots to pick from when your footgear wears out. When your toes are warm, dry and protected, you can focus on riding and enjoying yourself. But when they’re not happy, you can’t think of anything else.
Be sure to stop in next week, when Shane rounds up a trio of new riding gloves.
